Karen Black, Artist, Dushore, Pa has established an Art for Life Award (monetary awards start at $250) for two qualified Senior Students from Sullivan County who have enjoyed the creative process of bringing art into their life. To empower and encourage artistic expression  throughout ones life no matter what career choices one makes. This program seeks out those Senior art students, who are not necessarily going to art school, but are venturing into other endeavors, whether  work, trade or advanced education.

Started in 2023 each student provided 2 images of artwork completed in the past year and  an essay that opens a window into the graduate's creative world. These essays touched upon what role art plays in the next phase of their life. And how does creating art affect their life and the community around them.
